Lagos socialite, traditional ruler, Buhari Oloto, dies at 80

A popular Lagos-based socialite and monarch, Alhaji Buhari Oloto, has passed away at 80.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman, Lagos Central Senatorial District, Hakeem Bamgbola, confirmed his death in a statement issued to newsmen recently.

Tribune Online reports that the late Oloto was installed as the Oba of Iguruland, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos last September.

Oba Oloto, popularly known as Buhari Oloto and later called Abu Oloto, was a popular figure in the Lagos social scene for over 40 years.

While reacting to the development, The Grandson of the 8th Obanikoro of Lagos, Engr. Layiwola Ajayi-Bembe expressed surprise at the demise of Alhaji Buhari Oloto, adding that God knows best.

Meanwhile, Ajayi-Bembe, who is the Chairman of County and City bricks, described the late Oloto as a good man who lived an enviable life for his people.

He also described the monarch as someone who is generous to a fault, stating that the people Oto and Lagos state specifically, including Nigeria will sorely miss the man of great virtues.

CLAIM: A Facebook user claims that the consumption of rotten tomatoes, popularly known as Esa in South-West Nigeria, can cause liver cancer.

VERDICT: The claim that the consumption of rotten tomatoes can cause liver cancer is true. The WHO noted that consuming mycotoxins found in rotten tomatoes can lead to long-term effects such as immune deficiency and cancer.

FULL STORY: A Facebook user, Adebisi Yusuff Adebayo, in a post, claimed that rotten tomatoes contain fungi which produce a toxin that may cause liver cancer.

According to the post, boiling and frying it does not help remove the fungi completely.
