Lagos, Ogun riverine communities lament deplorable state of Ode-Omi-Igbogun-Ise road

Published by

Some communities along the riverine area between Lagos and Ogun States have lamented about the deplorable state of the Ode-Omi-Igbogun-Ise road, urging the Ogun and Lagos States government to come to their aid and repair the road.

Speaking to the Tribune Online, a group of community leaders from the riverine towns led by Mr Abajo Musa Olabode, a former Chairman of the Ogun Waterside East LCDA stated that, “the last time the road was attended to was in 2015 when the Ogun State Government in conjunction with OKLNG repaired the road by filling it with earth laterite.

“Ode-Omi shares the same peninsula with lekki in Lagos State. It is the only coastal area that Ogun has but the town is naturally isolated from the rest of Ogun State due to lack of access or motorable road.

“Right now, the problems facing Ode-Omi in Ogun State and neighbouring riverine communities of Lagos State axis like Ise, Igbogun, Aboreji, Obada etc is that this road is no more motorable. The earth laterite provided then has been eroded away by erosion.

This havoc created by erosion has made Ode-Omi, Use, Igbogun and other riverine parts of the Lagos State axis a no go area for motorists.

“We are therefore appealing to the government of Ogun and Lagos State under the able leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his counterpart in Lagos State His Excellency Babajide Sanwolu to come to our aid and help us fix the road.

“We are also appealing to our representatives in the National Assembly; distinguished Senator Lekan Mustapha of Ogun East senatorial district; his colleague in Lagos East senatorial district, distinguished Senator Adetokunbo Abiru (both at the upper chamber of the National Assembly); Hon. Abdmajeed Adekoya aka Attacker, Honourable member representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal constituency, his colleague representing Epe Federal Constituency in Lagos State Hon Wale Raji (both at the lower chamber,) to please put heads together and fix this road for us.”
