Lagos APC shuns electoral appeal committee, releases list of candidates

Barely 24 hours after the expiration of the June 2 deadline for the submission of petitions by aggrieved aspirants in the primary elections, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) has, on Thursday, released the names of its party flag-bearer for the forthcoming local council elections, without the party’s Primary Election Appeal committee headed by Lawal Pedro (SAN) sitting over the complaints bordering on the violent conduct and sharp practices of the primaries.

The list sighted by Tribune  Online was signed by the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon Tunde Balogun and the State Caretaker Committee Secretary, Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi, contained names of 57 candidates that would fly the party’s flag in the council polls slated to hold in July.

The names of candidates, a high ranking member of the party told Tribune  Online would lay to rest all complaints and grievances by the aspirants and members over the Saturday council polls.

According to him, the Election Appeal Committee has concluded its assignment and made its recommendation to the party hence the lists of the flag-bearer.

In a recent statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon Oluseye Oladejo said, “the party wants to enjoin aggrieved aspirants to approach the Election Appeal Committee headed by Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN) to lodge formal complaints.

The party calls for the traditional united front as we prepare for the fast-approaching Local Government elections.”
