LACVIS admits challenges confronting Lagos computerised vehicle inspection regime

The Lagos Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service (LACVIS) has admitted teething challenges confronting the commencement of the “No Inspection, No Road Worthiness Certificate” policy of the Lagos State Government which began on January 1, 2022; stating that updating of the process which is ongoing will make it seamless in no distant time.

In a statement signed on Sunday evening by the Managing Director/Ceo of LACVIS Nigeria Limited, Prince Segun Obayendo, the firm explained that different stories flying around, with varying degrees of truth, are laced with the intent to misrepresent the good intent the Lagos State government has when it set up the inspection centres.

According to the LACVIS MD, “Let me start by appreciating each and everyone of you for your steadfast support for the computerised vehicle inspection since it made its debut in 2017 in Lagos.

“You have walked with us and we did not take it for granted all the features, news articles, picture news, mentions and every other way LACVIS has been positively portrayed in your publications.

“Expectedly, with the introduction of this policy, the media space has been awash with different stories, with varying degrees of truth, more with the intent to misrepresent the good intent the state government has when it set up the inspection centres.

“Let us be reminded that this policy is expected to reduce carnages on the highways caused by defective vehicles. Several lives running into tens of thousands and assets worth millions of naira have been lost as a result of accidents on the highways.

“Yes, we are not unmindful of some of the teething challenges faced with the new policy which include long queues at our centres and people staying long hours before accessing our services

“Our commitment, however, is to keep updating our processes to make it as seamless as possible.

“We look forward to your candid suggestions even as we are prepared to oblige your requests to grant you facts and figures associated with this policy.”
