Lawrence, 23; and Sani, 27, both residents of Angwan Cement in Karmo, were convicted on a two-count charge of joint act and theft.
The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced the convicts after they pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for leniency.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs Florence Auhioboh, had told the court that one Benson Akogu of Costain Construction Company, Life Camp, Abuja, reported the matter at Life Camp Police Station on December 11.
She alleged that on the same date at about 4:00 p.m, the convicts broke into the said company and stole the iron rods valued at N300,000.
The prosecutor said the convicts were, however, arrested by the police as they tried to flee the area.
She said that the iron rods were recovered from the convicts during police investigation while they made confessional statements admitting that they committed the crime.
The offences, she added, contravened sections 79 and 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
