Kogi govt vows swift action to rescue abducted CUSTECH students

The Kogi State Government has affirmed its commitment to sparing no effort in ensuring the safe rescue and reunion of all abducted students with their families.

In a press statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, it was revealed that the government received disturbing news at approximately 21:00 hrs on Thursday, May 9, 2024, indicating that the Confluence University of Science and Technology had been invaded by kidnappers.

The statement read as follows: “Upon receiving the report, His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State, activated the security architecture to track the kidnappers and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students, as well as the apprehension of the perpetrators.”

“Hundreds of local hunters, familiar with the terrain, alongside conventional security agents, are currently combing the area to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted students, who were taken from their classrooms. So far, nine students have been reported missing.”

“We wish to assure students, parents, and the entire populace of Kogi State that the government is fully engaged in addressing the situation. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has also directed the positioning of security agents around all tertiary institutions in the state.”

“We commend the local hunters and other security agents who courageously engaged the kidnappers. Their bravery and dedication ensured that the kidnappers did not have free rein, preventing a potentially more disastrous outcome.

“The state government is fully committed to ensuring the safe rescue and reunion of all abducted students with their families. We will not yield to terror; we shall prevail.”
