The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday paraded the killers of 93-year-old Pa Defwan Dariye, father of a former governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye.
Parading the suspects in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CP Frank Mba disclosed that the deceased was killed after his abductors collected N10 million ransom from his family.
The gang leader of the kidnappers Jethro Nguyen, 53, an indigene of Bokos, told newsmen that hired others including some Fulani herders to successfully abduct the old man from his palace and kept him in custody for some days but that the hired boys messed up the assignment and killed the man after the ransom was fully paid.
Nguyen, who is also the mastermind of the crime, said that he decided to abduct the old man because he was a good target to make money as his son was a one time governor of Plateau State and senator of the Federal Republic without anything to show for it in the community.
Members of the killer gang confessed to newsmen during the parade of receiving between N400,000 and N1.2m from the ransom paid.
