Kogi State Police Command of the Nigeria Police has confirmed the release of the Dean of the Department of Management Sciences at the Kogi State University Anyigba, Prof. John Alabi.
The Police on Sunday said the Professor regained his freedom on Saturday night after six days in the kidnappers den.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP William Ayah, who made the confirmation, said the professor has been reunited with his family.
According to the PPRO, the Police swang into action immediately after the lecturer was kidnapped and ensured that he was released unhurt.
He also said disclosed that another two persons kidnapped by kidnappers have been rescued by the command.
“It would be recalled that on 01/10/2021 at about 2030hrs, some armed hoodlums forcefully abducted one Chief Idoko Emmanuel and one Paul Onoja, both ‘m’ of Emonoja village, and shot one Miss Blessing Akoh ‘f’, on her leg at Enugu Ezike road of Emonoja village.
“The Police operatives attached to Olamaboro Division led by the DPO immediately swung into action mobilized his men and with the assistance of local vigilante pursued hoodlums into the bush.
“At about 0600hrs of 2/10/2021, while closing on the Hoodlums, they abandoned their captives and fled,” he said.
