The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Clement Amoko, who was kidnapped by some gunmen in his Ogida, Benin home, on Sunday morning, has been rescued.
Amoko, attached to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), was said to have been rescued late Sunday night, hours after he was kidnapped.
Tribune Online gathered that the rescue operation was carried out by men of the Edo State Police command’s various tactical and strike forces.
The police officer is said to be receiving treatment due to the beating he received from his abductors while he has also reunited with his family.
It was gathered that since his abduction’s news became public, policemen have been out to ensure he was released unhurt.
The Edo Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Princewill Osaigbovo, who confirmed Amoko’s rescue, added that the ASP was receiving treatment in the hospital due to beatings he received in the hand of his abductors.
“I can tell you that he has been released and he is receiving treatment while he has also reunited with his family,” Osaigbovo said.
