The personal building of the late former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, is undergoing renovation ahead of his burial in Illah, Delta State on July 29 this year.

This development initiated by his family members has put an end to the rumour doing the rounds that the former Nigeria captain, Keshi, had no building in his home town.

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ukah, who led journalists on a visit to  assess the ongoing renovation works on Thursday, was conducted round the building and other parts of the compound by the eldest brother of deceased, Mr Sylvester Keshi, and a nephew, Mr Eboka Ofuonye.

According to Ukah, the visit was to assess the level of renovation done on the building of Keshi ahead of the burial ceremonies in that sleepy town.

Ukah said that the state government was assisting the family to see that the compound is put in proper shape considering the number and calibre of important persons who will come to pay their last respect to the fallen soccer hero.

The burial ceremonies of the former coach of Togo and Mali will begin in Abuja, on July 26 with interment scheduled to take place in Illah on the 29th of this month and outing service on July 31.

Keshi, who coached Nigeria to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, was the second

person after Egyptian Mahmoud El-Gohary, to have won the AFCON title both as a player and a coach.

It will be recalled, that Keshi, died in Benin City, Edo State on June 8 this year at 54.
