KEDCO MD refutes being sacked for financial mismanagement

The Managing Director, Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, who has signified intention to contest the governorship election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has refuted a purported claim that he was being sacked on allegation of financial mismanagement.

This was just as he debunked that the KEDCO, has also been taken over by Fidelity Bank.

In a statement signed by His Director of Publicity, Dr Gwamna, Campaign Organisation, Comrade Ibrahim Sani Shawai, and a copy made available on Friday to pressmen in Kano, the state capital.

The statement read, “Following the dangerous and toxic report by daily dispatch and OperaNews that the MD/CEO of KEDCO, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna has been relieved of his duties owing to financial mismanagement and incompetence, the public should note that such news is baseless, unfounded and untrue.

It is also good to note that fidelity bank has not in any way taken over the management and activities of KEDCO as was insinuated by the online media.

In view of his political ambition to become the next governor of Gombe State, Dr Gwamna will soon resign to face his political ambition based on the guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in order to commence full-scale political activities.

However, he has not resigned but will do that and inform the public accordingly and even if he resigns he is still the MD of Sahelian Energy, a company that owns 50% of shares in KEDCO.

The fake publication which is purely politically motivated to demarket Dr Gwamna being a political heavyweight, a frontrunner and aspirant of the PDP vying for the governorship seat in Gombe should be seen as the handiwork of opposition to Gwamna’s ambition.

Dr Gwamna who is also the Sardaunan Gombe has made a lot of impact and investments in youth and women and enjoys the sheer love of the ordinary people, this has made the opposition see him as a serious threat.

These news outlets and their management have seven days to apologise and withdraw such unfounded news or face the legal consequences of this malicious publication aimed at serving whatever interest they so wish.
