Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi State Governor
The Kebbi State Government under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has contributed the sum of 30 Million Naira into the indigent fund as part of efforts and activities to support screening and treatment for cancer patients in the state.
The State Commissioner of Health, Jafar Mohammed who was represented by the Program Manager, Kebbi Cancer Control Program, Dr Nuhu Koko disclosed this as he solicited the support of Pastors and Christian leaders in enlightening their congregations about cancer.
He urged the Christian Community to take advantage of the state cancer control program, stating that so far more than 300 cancer patients have benefited from the fund.
Koko further informed the gathering about the Kebbi Cancer Treatment Centre situated at Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo and the free services rendered at the centre
He also used the opportunity on behalf of the State Ministry of Health (SMOH) to appreciates the chairperson of Kebbi State Cancer Control Programme, Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu for her tireless and relentless support always.
Earlier, a member of the Kebbi Cancer Control Program, Dr Ishak Lawal, who spoke on behalf of the Medicaid Team educated the participants on the basic principles of cancer prevention and control, causes of cancer and the importance of screening.
In his vote of thanks, the CAN chairman Kebbi State Chapter Rev Isah Dangana thanked and appreciate Sen Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for the show of love and his kind gestures to the Christian Community in the state.
Dangana also appreciated all the efforts and supports of the wife of the Governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu is giving cancer awareness and financial support her foundation is giving and other humanitarian services as he also acknowledged the State Ministry of Health, MCF, WHO, ROCHE, J&J and other partners.
The State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Medicaid Cancer Foundation took cancer awareness advocacy to Watchman Chapel Church, Badariya, Birnin Kebbi to sensitise the leadership of the Christian Community on the importance of Cancer Screening.
The sensitisation also comprised ways to Prevent Cancer and the Kebbi State Cancer Control Programme which includes Kebbi Cancer Indigent Funds, Free screening for various Cancers and Supports and others.
