Kebbi govt again, donates vehicles, motorcycles to army

Six new Hilux vehicles and thirty motorcycles were last weekend donated to the 8th Division, Nigeria Army Sokoto to boost their operations against bandits and kidnappers in the southern parts of Kebbi State by the state government.

The keys to the vehicles and motorcycles were handed over to the Commander, 1Brigade, Nigeria Army Gusau, Brigadier General Isyaku Owolabi Olatunji who stood in for the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8th Division, Sokoto, Major General Usman A.Yusuf by the Special Adviser to the state governor on security matters, Major Garba Rabiu Kamba (rtd).

The Special Adviser told the Commander that the donation of the vehicles was in furtherance to the ones donated earlier this year to increase the performance of the Army to confront and eliminates bandits and kidnappers in their various hideouts in the state.

Rtd. Major Kamba disclosed that the state government is fully satisfied with the gallantry performance displayed by the troops in the area in recent times in the Southern parts of Kebbi State.

While receiving the keys to the vehicles, General Olatunji expressed immense appreciation to the Kebbi State government and the people of the state on behalf of the GOC, COAS, and the CDS.

He specifically thanked the state governor for his sympathy visit to 1Battalion Dukku Barrack, Birnin-Kebbi the previous Friday to console families of soldiers who died during an operation in the state and those who sustained injuries.

The Brigade Commander also thanked the government for doling out huge sum of money to the families of the fallen heroes and the wounded soldiers currently receiving treatments in the hospital.

He assured that the motorcycles would be deployed for patrol purposes in the remote areas facing security challenges, like Makuku, Maga and Dankolo respectively.
