The Kaduna State House of Assembly has extended the 12-month suspension of three of its members, while a fresh suspension was issued to another lawmaker.

A statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Haruna Jafaru Sambo said the lawmakers have their suspension extended to another 12 months.

According to the statement, the decision was taken during a plenary session on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Honourable Isaac Auta.

“The House has extended the suspension of the three members and issued suspension to another member, Hon Salisu Isa Member representing Magajin Gari,” the statement stated.

Those initially suspended by the House are Rt. Hon. Mukhtar Isa Hazo and Rt. Hon. Nuhu Goro Shadalafiya, both former deputy speakers and Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman.

Similarly, the House also declared the seat of the former speaker of the house, Aminu Abdullahi Shagali vacant.

The clerk of the Assembly was instructed to communicate with all those affected.

Recall that the affected lawmakers were suspended during plenary last year following their roles in the House’s leadership tussle.
