No fewer than five persons were reportedly killed on Friday when farmers from Modakeke town in Osun State were attacked by gunmen.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. when the farmers were heading to their farms along Toro road in Modakeke.
When contacted, the state police command told newsmen in Osogbo that the police were aware of the development and assured that the problem would be addressed headlong.
The spokesperson of the command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that policemen had been drafted to the scene of the incident to ensure peace and orderliness.
Opalola who confirmed the killing said normalcy would be restored in the affected area.
Meanwhile, the bodies of those killed are said to have been deposited at the general hospital in Ile-Ife.
