El-zakzaky
Men of the Department of State Services (DSS) and their counterparts in the Nigeria Police, Monday laid siege on the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja from 1:30 pm to about 3:30 pm as the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiite, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, left the country to India for medical check-up.
The embattled IMN leader came into the airport around 3pm via the Kaduna -Abuja rail service.
Confirming the arrival of the Shiite leader at the airport, a source from the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who did not want her name mentioned in the print said, “the Shitte leader is here but he is under tight security.”
She stated further that “nobody is allowed to see him, he is in one of the rooms here at the International wing and he will be leaving for India at 6pm via Emirate air”
Refuting initial reports that El-Zakzaky had travelled earlier in the day via a chartered aircraft, an Immigration officer who spoke to Tribune Online under the condition of anonymity stated that the IMN leader was still at the airport under the guard of DSS.
