JPTriple2 discusses new album F.E.L.A

Published by

Top Naija Music Award winner for the lyricist on the roll in 2020, JPtriple2 has recently dropped his long-awaited debut album, First-Ever Living Abami (F.E.L.A). The unsigned-rapper who was born in the city of Ibadan explained to Saturday Tribune what inspired his album and why it is so unique.

According to him, ‘F.E.L.A’ is an album coined out of being different and weird, which has been the signature for him. From the album’s artwork, with only the face paintings, to paying homage to the Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and his queens, it definitely tells its unusualness as it symbolises the Fela of the new era.

The 7-track album asides from its intro which ushers the listeners to the life and experiences of an upcoming artiste, which was also done in a dialogue of Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba (Ibadan), and Akure dialects. It also has a cypher which has nine rappers on it, instead of the normal four to six rappers expected of a cypher.

“I also came out with a concept which has never been done before, by including a song that was not on the artwork in the album, only to be discovered when you download the full album,” JPtriple2 told Saturday Tribune.
