JEPEF empowers 200 women entrepreneurs in Oyo

A non-governmental organisation (NGO) arm of The Church of the Lord Worldwide (TCLW), Justice Equity Peace and Empowerment Foundation (JEPEF), has empowered 200 women and girls entrepreneurs in Oyo State.

The empowerment training-cum-workshop, which took place at Ighodalo Hall, Agbowo-University of Ibadan area, Ibadan, Oyo State, was to assist the womenfolk and lift them out of their economically- disadvantaged state.

According to JEPEF programme coordinator, Evangelist Prince Samuel Adefowope Ashaye, the women would be trained in Agriculture/Agro-allied, Livestock sectors and financial management for prudency.

He added that aside training and empowerment, a JEPEF Cooperative Society, Oyo State branch will be set up for the purpose of follow up.

Shortly before the opening ceremony on Tuesday, July 13, the Administrator General of TCLW and vice president of JEPEF, Archbishop David Ayoola Fabusoro, said the four-day free dialogue, empowerment, training and workshop held from July 12 to 15, was sponsored by Bread for the World Churches helping Churches, Germany.

“The focus is to build the skills/knowledge of women/girls entrepreneurs within ages 18 and 60 years, who are members of TCLW, other Christian denominations and Muslim organisations, such as NASFAT and FOMWAN,” he added.

He also said the project was used to boost the economy of the area where it is taking place, as all items needed for the programme are sourced from the vicinity.

Archbishop Fabusoro added that the presence of JEFEP, which is 10 years old, is felt all over the world: in countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Togo, Ivory Coast, Guinea and in Nigeria (Kwara, Kaduna, Kano, Yola, and Ogere Remo in Ogun State, which is the headquarters).

He further urged the participants to make the best of the opportunity; the donors, not to relent in their efforts, while appreciating them and promising that TCLW will forge ahead in the endeavour.
