Jay-Z’s mother marries long-time ‘lesbian’ partner

Gloria Carter, the mother of renowned rapper Jay-Z, celebrated her union with longtime partner Roxanne Wilshire in a splendid wedding ceremony held in New York City on Sunday night.

The star-studded event attracted a host of celebrities, including Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Tyler Perry, and Robin Roberts. The joyous occasion took place in the vibrant neighbourhood of Tribeca, with the reception lasting until the early hours of the morning, around 1 am.

As the festivities came to a close, the newlyweds bid farewell to their guests, with Gloria elegantly attired in a white suit and Roxanne dazzling in a stunning gold and white shimmery dress.

Jay-Z has consistently shown unwavering support for Gloria, who publicly came out as a lesbian through his 2017 track “Smile.”

In the emotionally charged song, Gloria shared her experience of “living in the shadows” as a gay woman, with Jay-Z joining her to express his pride and love.

He rapped, “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian/Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate/Society shame and the pain was too much to take. Cried tears of joy when you fell in love/Don’t matter to me if it’s a him or her/I just wanna see you smile through all the hate/Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake.”

Jay-Z further confirmed the depth of his emotional response upon learning of his mother’s newfound love during an interview with David Letterman on the Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.

The artist admitted shedding tears of joy, emphasizing the significance of his mother’s happiness and emphasizing his unconditional acceptance.
