Jackrich calls for upward review of HOSTCOMS equity at NASS conference

Published by

Following the decision of the National Assembly to hold a conference committee to harmonize the percentage for the host communities, Network for the Defense of Democracy and Good Governance (NDDGG), Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich, has called on the Senate to impress on her members to approach the committee meeting with an open mind.

He said the opportunity to harmonize called for an upward review of the percentage for the host communities from three per cent to five per cent in a statement made available to the media.

He commended the Senate for the passage of the PIB which he said offered another opportunity to make an upward review following the need for harmonization.

The political activist and leader said this at the commendation during a grand reception held in his honour by the people of Ogbogoro Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He also called on the federal government to engage in dialogue and seek a roundtable discussion with stakeholders of the country in order to amicably resolve the various agitations across the board.

Jackrich advised citizens who feel aggrieved to explore peaceful means of pressing home their demands instead of resolving to violence.

Sobomabo Jackrich who is also the leader of Kengema Unity Forum while urging Rivers people to consciously participate in electoral processes called on them to look beyond party lines in deciding who leads the state in 2023.

He urged Rivers people to resist the imposition of candidates by those whom he alleged had plundered the collective resources of the state.
