It’s time for national reconciliation, Atiku, Obi should congratulate Tinubu- Onitiri

Socio-political activist and critic, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, has called for urgent national reconciliation following the acrimony and bad blood generated by the last presidential election.

He also urged the presidential candidates of the Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, along with others, to congratulate President Bola Tinubu to move the nation forward.

Speaking in Lagos, Onitiri said, “Now that the Supreme Court, which is the apex court in the land, has finally upheld Tinubu as the winner of the last presidential election, we, as democrats, plead for peace to reign in the country.

“We urge Alhaji Atiku and Mr. Obi to congratulate President Bola Tinubu and work with him to move our nation forward.

“As democrats and patriotic Nigerians who have the love of our dear country, Nigeria, in their hearts, they should join hands with the President to solve the present myriad of daunting problems confronting our nation.

“They should call on all their supporters to join hands with the government in the interest of peace and tranquility in the nation. There are no winners or losers.

“Nigeria is the winner. It’s our duty to build an enduring democracy. The elections are over, and it’s now time for good governance to leave good legacies for our generations yet unborn.

“Let’s all put the elections behind us and move forward. It’s time for Nigerian politicians to adopt the late Alhaji Waziri Ibrahim’s politics without bitterness,” Onitiri emphasized.

The socio-political activist also called on the National Assembly for urgent electoral reforms and the restructuring of the country.

“This is the time to talk about our electoral reforms and the restructuring of the nation. We earnestly need credible elections with less acrimony in this country. We want full participatory democracy,” he concluded.

“Let us all embrace peace, seek peace, because it’s when peace reigns that development can take place. The labors of our heroes past must not be in vain,” he implored.
