Islamic cleric beats up student to coma in Ilorin

Kwara State Police command says it has arrested an Islamic cleric, Alfa Moshood Alabi, for allegedly beating one of his students to a coma for stealing a locally made safe, otherwise known as ”Kolo”.

Tribune Online gathered that the Ilorin based Islamic cleric had earlier been on the run after the case was reported to the police by the National Human Rights Commission in the state.

It was gathered that his arrest was effected by officers and men of the Oloje Police Division, Ilorin after the case was reported.

Sources in the police station also revealed that the matter would be transferred to the Gender-Based Violent Unit of the Police Command in Ilorin as soon as the investigation was concluded.

It was also gathered that the victim is still at a private hospital in Ilorin, where he is said to be recuperating.
