Iseyin LG boss urges lawmakers to be good ambassadors

Newly elected councillors in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State have been admonished to be good ambassadors of the wards by ensuring they perform their legislative duties with the fear of God with a view to take their various wards and the entire local government to an enviable height amongst its peers in the state.

The Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Hon Mufutau Osuolale Abilawon, gave the admonishment during the oath taken and inauguration of the councillors held inside the conference room of the council area last week.

Abilawon charged them to ensure a harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of the Council Area and promised that necessary assistance will be extended to them from time to time.

He further appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity given to them to be elected into various political positions, promising that his administration will complement efforts towards achieving the four cardinal agenda of the current administration in ensuring the sustainability of making life better and more meaningful for the entire good people of Iseyin and Oyo State in general.

Earlier, he had sworn in the Vice-Chairman, Hon Fasasi Raheem Ajibola, at a ceremony held inside the Chairman’s office.

Meanwhile, the Legislative Arm, at its inaugural sitting, elected principal officers to run its affairs. The elected officers include Hon. Shehu Waheed Abiodun of Ward 4 as a leader, Hon Adebayo Musibau Adeolu of Ward 2 as deputy leader, Hon Onatunji Ibrahim Onabanji of Ward 7 as chief whip and Hon Fadeyi Samuel Ademola of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of Ward 11 was elected as Minority Leader.

In his inaugural speech, the newly elected Leader of the House, Hon Shehu Waheed Abiodun, charged his fellow colleague Principal Officers to see their election as a call to serve Iseyin Land as a whole with utmost honesty and fear of God.

On behalf of his colleagues, he thanked the Chairman of the council Area for providing them with a level playing ground without interference while their election lasted and promised to cooperate wholeheartedly with the executive arm towards making life better and meaningful for the good people of Iseyin Local Government.
