I usually feel dizzy if I suddenly stand up. Kindly let me know if this a stroke or something else. I am 60 years old.

This is definitely not a stroke. Stroke signs are episodic with one-sided dysfunction, such as one-side facial droop, weakness of the arm or slurred speech (Fast: Face, Arms, Speech, Timing). Dizziness on standing quickly (orthostatic hypotension) or low blood pressure is transient, settles within seconds and lacks neurological signs. Dizziness caused by a stroke is continuous and commonly accompanies confusion, vision changes, lack of balance or severe headache. If dizziness strikes with none of these other signals and resolves quickly after sitting or lying down, it’s less likely to be a stroke. But sudden, unexplained dizziness accompanied by weakness, numbness or speech problems warrants immediate medical evaluation. Remember FAST signs and to ALWAYS seek emergency care if you are in doubt.
