Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has lamented the rising cases of insecurity in the country characterized by kidnappings, cattle rustling, banditry and insurgency which he described as threats to peaceful coexistence and harmony among the citizenry, saying therefore that only prayers for nation’s stability are what Nigeria requires at the moment.
The Governor expressed the lamentation in a remark during a Ramadan Tafsir session he attended at the Juma’at Mosque of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe conducted by Sheikh Adamu Muhammad Dokoro.
The Governor also urged youths in the state to complement the government’s effort by ensuring proper utilisation of various empowerment programmes and interventions for their benefit and that of the society.
He decried how some beneficiaries of empowerment programmes abuse the intervention by selling the equipment given to them at a cheap rate.
Inuwa Yahaya identified the implications of joblessness among youths which he noted is one of the factors responsible for the current spate of insecurity bedevilling the nation.
He said that “As leaders, we also need prayers from the people for Allah’s guidance in running the affairs of government because as humans we have our own shortcomings but with your prayers and Allah’s guidance we shall Insha Allah remain on course to deliver the goods.”
Similarly, the Governor was at the Bolari Izala mosque where he attended the Tafsir session conducted by Sheikh Usman Isah Taliyawa where the state chief executive delivered the same message of peace and solicited prayers for the nation and its leadership.
Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe also called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for peace and harmony of the nation saying that considering the spate of insecurity in different parts of the country, Nigeria, at this point, needs nothing more than consistent prayers across all faiths.
Earlier in their separate Tafsirs, Sheikhs Muhammad Adamu Dokoro and Usman Isah Taliyawa admonished the ummah on the essence of prayers for peace and unity in the society, urging them to utilize the holy month of Ramadan, especially the last ten days to pray for peace in Gombe state and the nation at large.
The Ramadan Tafsir session was attended by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in the company of other top government officials, including the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari and PPS, Usman Kamara as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli Director-General, ( Press Affairs) Government House, Gombe.
