Insecurity in South-West ploy to actualise Fulani’s agenda of recolonisation ― YOV

Yoruba Diaspora Group, Yoruba One Voice (YOV), has said that the raging insecurity in the South-West region is the ploy by the Fulani to recolonise the region, even as the group berated the Federal Government’s failure to officially designate bandits as terrorists.

YOV said this in a communique issued on Saturday, at the end of international webinar conference, that had in attendance over 1000 participants from the six continents, with the theme: “Foreign Banditry Effect on Farming and Farmers in Yoruba land.”

The group, while further knocking the Federal Government over the issue of insecurity in the country, maintained that it was a deliberate action and an attempt to realise Fulani’s agenda of recolonizing Nigeria.

This was just as YOV equally knocked the Federal Government over its alleged deliberate action of making the court’s order ineffective, just as it demanded unconditional release of Mr Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Igboho and Maxi Nnamdi Kanu from detention.

The group posited further that the Fulani-led Federal Government, through its body language, could not exonerate itself from the invasion of Yoruba farmlands by bandits/terrorists.

According to it, this is so because the criminal were so audacious in their activities as none of those perpetrating the act had been arraigned before a law court.

The Yoruba diaspora group also bemoaned the shortage of food supply in the South-West region due to insecurity in Yorubaland.

Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, who is also the Grand Patron of the group, in his remark, lamented that farmers in Yoruba land were leaving their farms in droves due to no fault of theirs, but because of attacks by bandits/terrorists.

Adams said the various attacks by these bandits/terrorists had further complicated the food chain crisis in the land, adding that it was when farmlands were safe that farmers would be willing to farm.

The Yoruba generalissimo, however, noted that despite the challenges being faced by the farmers, such as lack of access to credit to boost their work, poor land tenure system, low level of irrigation farming, climate change, among others, farmers in Yoruba land were still following the God-given mandate of providing food for the citizenry.

“Farmers in Yorubaland were leaving their farms in droves due to no fault of theirs, but because of the planned, coordinated, drastic, maximum and ruinous attacks by bandits/terrorists.

“Despite the challenges being faced by the farmers, such as lack of access to credit to boost their work, poor land tenure system, low level of irrigation farming, climate change and land degradation, poor road networks, poor storage system, low use of mechanisation and others, they are still following the God-given mandate of providing food for the citizenry,” Iba Adams stated.

Guest Lecturer, Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu from the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, said the Federal Government has failed in its responsibility to secure the lives and property of the people as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.

The University don charged that the Yoruba should not only organize, agitate, present alternatives but should also dissect the problems and its effects on the South-West region, adding that they needed to bring several others to the front-bunner of their agitation, albeit intellectually, looking at the aspects of farming and the farmers.

“Yoruba should not just organise, agitate, present alternative but the southwest should also dissect the problems and its effects on the Yorubaland.”

“This is simply one of the expected instances. While Yorubas look at the aspects of farming and the farmers, Yorubas still have several others to bring to the front-bunner of our agitation albeit, intellectually,” Suenu said.

Secretary-General of the group, Dr Sina Okanlomo, while noting sadly that bandits/terrorists were foreigners brought in to give bite to the attempt to colonise other parts of the country in order to realise the Fulani agenda as being assisted by internal collaborators, reiterated the need to go back to regionalism, declaring that the country cannot make any meaningful progress until it retraces its step.

“Bandits/terrorists are foreigners brought in to give bite to the attempt to colonise other parts of the country in order to realise the Fulani agenda and they are being assisted by internal collaborators”

“However, from the present situation in the country, it is no doubt that Nigeria cannot make any serious or meaningful progress unless we go back to regionalism. We need to go back to 1960, or at best 1963 constitution that allowed the federating units to grow and develop at their own pace,” he said.

YOV Women Coordinator, Toyin Alowonle, spoke on why it was important to protect the interest and rights of little children across the world.

She also frowned at the abuse of children rights, even as she urged the Federal Government to protect the rights of women, against rape and abuse, especially at their farms across the South-West.
