Insecurity eroding Buhari’s achievements in economy, infrastructure ― Bamisile

The Federal Lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency, Honourable Femi Bamisile has expressed displeasure that the security challenges confronting the country have slowed down the level of projected development under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He explained that the waves of insecurity ranging from insurgency, banditry, kidnappings and other heinous crimes bedevilling the country are eroding the government’s efforts across sectors especially the economy and infrastructure.

The All Progressives Congress(APC) lawmaker spoke in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital at the decoration of some promoted personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Ekiti State Command.

According to him, “It is to say the least, that no development could be witnessed under the atmosphere devoid of peace, hence the need for all to join hands together in order to bring lasting peace into the Country.

“President Buhari’s both economy and infrastructure policies would have banished poverty and economy crises in the Country by now, if not because of the security crises facing Nigeria.”

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, added, “The level of porosity in the country’s security system in recent times was not only worrisome but embarrassing and unacceptable, hence the need for a more holistic approach to tackling the menace.

“The continued violence, kidnappings, killings and arsons across the country needed to be curtailed in order to safe Nigeria from becoming a failed State. People are now sleeping with their two eyes being opened and fear of uncertainty.

“It is now imperative and urgent for the Security Agencies in the Country to work out modalities to protect Nigerians irrespective of their religion, background or tribes. Every Nigerian deserves to live with adequate protection from all security agencies in the country.”

He called on all security agencies in the country to coalesce efforts and form a common front, ” that will assist them to flush out bad eggs among the security personnel in Nigeria. This will go a long way at arresting and prosecuting Criminals causing mayhems across the Country. Bandits and other Criminals operating in the country wouldn’t have been having free days at all times, if not for the fact that, there are still few bad eggs in the midst of the security Agencies.”

Bamisile however called on the newly promoted officers in the Command to justify their promotion by rededicating themselves to duties.
