INEC Chairman with Anambra CP
Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has reaffirmed the readiness of the commission for smooth conduct of the November 6, 2021, Anambra State governorship election.
Yakubu stated this at the INEC Headquarters in Awka, on Tuesday while addressing staff of the commission in the state on the election.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the chairman was in Awka, on a 2-day visit to assess the preparedness of the Anambra State office of the commission and to meet with various stakeholders on the forthcoming election.
He also had an interactive session with the Police, DSS, NSCDC and Immigration Commandants.
Yakubu said he would also meet with the council of traditional rulers, election observers and other relevant stakeholders in the state.
Speaking on behalf of others, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng, assured the INEC chairman of their readiness in protecting the eligible voters, before, during and after the election.
