The Incessant truck accidents in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state is extremely worrisome. The question now is what do we do to reduce these truck accidents? The rate at which truck drivers who hide under the guise of brake failure when many of them are just careless and nonchalant when driving is a menace; they continue killing residents and this has become alarming.
Stakeholders should rescue innocent citizens of Ibadan from being continually killed by these reckless truck drivers by restricting their movements. This is the right time for the Oyo state House of Assembly to raise the issue of incessant truck accidents on the floor of the house without further delay.
We cannot fold our arms and watch these truck drivers continually murder the people without facing the music. Nobody knows the next victim. Many residents of Ibadan have lost their lives to truck accidents. The House of Assembly must deliberate extensively on this by restricting the movement of truck drivers to midnight. If this is done, even when trucks have accidents, lives will not be lost. We need to put the necessary machinery in motion to reduce the truck accidents in Ibadan.
