The Imo State Police Command has foiled an attempt by hoodlums to raze down Izombe Police Station in Oguta Local Government Area of the state.

This is coming in less than 24 hours after hoodlums razed down Attah Police Station and Magistrate Court buildings in Njaba LGA of Imo State.

The Commissioner of Police Imo State, CP Abutu Yaro disclosed this through a statement endorsed by the Police Public Relations Officer SP. Bala Elkana in Owerri on Sunday.

The CP said that some hoodlums in their number launched an offensive on Izombe Police Station but were repelled by the gallant policemen on duty.

According to the CP, four of the suspected arsonists were arrested during the attack while others escaped with bullet wounds.

The CP commended the men for their abiding faith in the defence of the public space and urged them to be resilient in the fight until the enemies of the people were totally defeated.

Yaro said that mop-up operation was ongoing with a view to arresting other fleeing members of the gang.
