I’ll improve on my performance — Re-elected ATSSSAN president

Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), an aviation union consisting of senior and management cadre officials across the aviation agencies and other relevant private companies, has elected new executive members that will manage the affairs of the association for the next four years.

At the keenly contested election held in Ijebu Ode, at the weekend, the incumbent president of the association, Comrade Illitrus Ahmadu, was re-elected for a second term.

Speaking after his victory, the reelected ATSSSAN leader who clinched the position with 49 votes to defeat his rival, Comrade Ahmed Danjuma, who polled 34 votes,  said the focus of his team would be to bind the house, heal wounds and also pledged to work with whoever was aggrieved as a result of the election as a family for the general interest of members and the sector.

“I can give you my assurances that if we were able to do what we did in the last your years in the midst of challenges, difficult financial, administrative issues, that we inherited we were able to do that we are in the sound trajectory, sound financial footing to start off and begin to plan towards the future. My assurance to you is that, I will do better than I did in the last four years”.

The ATSSSAN President urged members of the union and workers in the industry not to loose hope due to the pandemic as he declared that there was light at the end of the dark tunnel if all work together for the recovery of the industry.

“We should not loose hope, we are in difficult times Covid has hit us bad as an industry, we are just struggling to recover from the negative impact of covid, I want employers and labour to work together so that we amicably resolve issues pertaining to our work force and prosperity of the industry, this is not the time for us to begin to have protracted disagreement, dislocation of services and stuff like that, so just like I have always stated, most of the achievements we recorded in the period under review were through table negotiations, dialogue, we will continue that to the benefit of the industry”.

Other officials elected to pilot the affairs of the union for the next four years are  tow National Deputy Presidents, two Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, three Trustees, two Auditors, three ex-officios and Women Leader.
