Igbokwe accuses IPOB of burning his house in Nnewi

Unidentified persons have burnt down the house of an aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Sunday.

Igbokwe, a Special Adviser on Drainage Cleaning to Governor Sanwo-Olu in a post on his Facebook page, accused Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members of being behind the attack.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State police command is yet to confirm the incident even after confirming fire incidents at the offices of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nnewi on Sunday.

According to the former Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesman, nobody was was hurt during the incident which he described as “sacrifice.”

“IPOB invaded my house in Nnewi about now. I am sure they razed down my house giving the jerry cans of petrol I saw being offloaded from their Sienna car via CCTV. To God be the glory. I am still alive. My study is my greatest regret,” Igbokwe wrote.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that a CCTV footage of the incident was shared by Igbokwe on Facebook.

Igbokwe, it would be recalled, had recently accused IPOB of the Tuesday killing of Dr Chike Akunyili, husband to late former Information Minister, Professor Dora Akinyuli.

When contacted on the claim by Igbokwe, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said he had no confirmation of any other fire incident at Nnewi, apart from those at the DSS and FRSC offices.
