Afro Pop singer, Attitude is a young and ambitous musician, who believes he could conquer Africa with his music and voice. He speaks with SEGUN ADEBAYO about his journey to fame in this interview.
You have been signed to Dem Mama records, OhK and now Achievas Entertainment, how would you describe the journey so far?
It’s been quite a journey I must say, I have learnt a lot and I am still learning. God has been faithful. The journey has not been easy, but we are progressing and the music is being appreciated by not only our fans in Nigeria but even outside outside the country. So, we are very glad.
You seem to have been around for a while but you have not really pushed your career to that big stage, what is responsible for this?
I took time off for a while to find my sound; I was in the studio almost everyday writing, recording, trying to create my own sound. I am glad all that is changing now since I dropped my new single, Aye Ole. The response to the track has been very good and the love I get daily is overwhelming.
Don’t you think switching labels would have contributed to your slow rise?
Maybe, but it’s all part of my story and growth. Every artiste out there has their own stories to tell. They all wrote the stories through their movements before fame came. I guess I am also writing mine now. I am fully signed to Achievas Entertainment and the vision is very clear now.
In 2016, you released two songs and this year, you have dropped one. How would you describe the acceptance level of your songs by Nigerians?
2017 has been really good to me. I dropped my new single Aye Ole in March and since the day it dropped, the acceptance has been amazing and the song is also getting on charts all over Nigeria and in other countries. This is an indication that the year is going to be a big one for me, I am trying to take it one step at a time for now.
What kind of music do you do and what experience would say you have gained over the years?
I mostly make Afro Pop records; I also rap and I love to try out new sounds, but when you hear an Attitude verse or track, you would hear my sound. That’s the sound I want people to associate me with. I want to be known for great sounds and the best of it from Africa.
Artistes keep springing up hence the need for you to keep raising your game, how would you rate your chances in the industry as of now?
I believe I have all it takes and the best team, so I will rate my chances at a 100 per cent. It is not going to be a smooth ride, but we will keep pushing. I don’t see anything stopping me at this stage now.
Do you see your label taking you that heights you have always envisaged?
I believe absolutely in the vision of the label, they have demonstrated enough clout over the years and I am very comfortable. Having said that, I know that success is never achieved overnight, my label and management have a great working relationship, and a very good structure, so I know we are all on the right path.
At what point would you say music became the main stay for you?
When I was 11, I realised my passion for music wasn’t just as a listener. I have known from a very early age that music was meant for me professionally.
Will you be dropping an album this year and do you think your fans are ready for your album?
Yea maybe an EP album but not a LP album. We keeping working regardless, so there will be more music out from me this year.
