An Area Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, has dissolved an Islamic marriage between Sikirat Bello and AbdulGaniyu Bello.
The presiding judge, AbdulQadir Umar, dissolved their marriage on the agreement of the couple.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the wife had earlier told the court that she had been living separately from her husband for some time and thus prayed the court to legally dissolve their marriage.
The woman, however, sought for custody of her three children and the father to take responsibility of their upkeep.
AbdulGaniyu giving his evidence insisted on their children’s custody.
Umar ordered the respondent to come to court at the next sitting with evidence to support his claim on their custody.
He adjourned the case.
