Although Tea may seem to have an edge over Coffee for senior citizens, there’s no clear winner in the perennial debate between coffee lovers and tea addicts. Both drinks offer clear health benefits, but each comes with a few risks. For the seniors with some underlying health issues such as hypertension and irregular heart beats, it might be a good thing to avoid coffee because of its high caffeine content. Also very important is the quantity and quality of what goes into the drinks such as sugar, milk and so on. For most older adults, it comes down to a matter of personal taste. As with all health decisions, moderation is key, offering the benefits of coffee and tea while minimizing the risks.
