I sleep too much

My sleeping problem goes back to my students days about 10 years ago. Despite sleeping well at night, I usually fell asleep in the class. Fortunately, I was able to cope. However, since starting work about five years ago, I have been having the same problem, falling asleep at work.  Due to the problem, I have lost several jobs. Kindly help me.

There are several underlying health conditions that may be causing your excessive sleeping habit. These include; frequently interrupted breathing (Sleep Apnea) low blood level (Anaemia) low thyroid activity (hypothyroidism), Diabetes as well as heart disease. Sleepspecialists usually suggest establishing a bedtime routine and sticking with it even on weekends in order to regulate the body clock and help the victim fall asleep and stay asleep for the night.

Although sleep requirements differ over time and from person to person, it is usually recommended that adultssleep between seven and nine hours each night. In addition, to promote healthy sleep patterns, routine exercises, as well as avoidance of alcohol, cigarettes, and heavy metals in the evening, will also improve sleep.  In view of the long duration of your problem, you will need to see a specialist physician for a thorough and comprehensive history and examination in order to unravel the reason for your problem.
