More details emerged on Monday on how a final year student of the University of Ibadan (UI), from the Department of History, Adegoke Adebayo, and another 200 level student of the Department of Microbiology, Adeyemo Oluwaseun Ayomide were killed in less than 24 hours in Ibadan on Sunday.
While Adegoke Adebayo was shot dead by armed robbers at a commercial Bank closed to the frontage of the institution after they have obtained all his belongings, Adeyemo Oluwaseun Ayomide was crushed by a hit and run driver.
Confirming the incidents to journalists, the director of communication of the university, Mr. Tunji Oladejo hinted said the sad development had been reported to the Bodija Police Division.
He said; “I understand, he was killed in front of Access Bank opposite Preboye, U.I/Bodija Road. The matter has been reported to the Bodija Police Division. The Oyo State Police Command is conducting a discreet investigation on the sad development. The body of the late student is with the University College Hospital (UCH), for autopsy.
“Meanwhile, it is another dark Sunday as our 200 level student of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Miss Oluwaseun Ayomide Adeyemo, died due to injury she sustained from a road accident when she was hit by a fast-moving vehicle driven by a fellow who lost control.
“The driver was said to be a student of the University of Ilorin. The accident occurred in front of Mobil Petrol Station on Ojo/UI Road. The corpse of the late Miss Adeyemo has been deposited at the Department of Anatomy of the University. The matter is being investigated by the Sango Police Division of the Oyo State Police Command.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations (PPRO) said an investigation is ongoing on the matter, saying “you will be updated, please.”
