Low blood pressure occurs when one’s blood pressure is much lower than normal. This means that the heart, brain, and other organs are not receiving adequate blood supply. Hypotension, or low blood pressure, is another name for it. People are typically considered to have low blood pressure if their reading is 90/60 or less. Normal Blood Pressure Level – systolic: less than 120 mm Hg diastolic: less than 80 mm Hg. The majority of the time, the human body can automatically regulate the level of blood pressure and prevent it from falling too low. The body tries to compensate if it begins to fall by either increasing the heart rate or narrowing the blood vessels. Hypotension symptoms develop when the body is unable to counteract the drop in blood pressure. Many people have hypotension without any symptoms. Many people don’t even realise they have low blood pressure until they measure it.
The consequences for those experiencing symptoms vary on the cause of the hypotension, how quickly it develops, and why it is occurring. As people age, slow drops in blood pressure are a normal occurrence, making hypotension more prevalent. Rapid drops in blood pressure may indicate that your body’s circulatory system is underperforming in some areas. That may have unpleasant, disturbing, or even harmful effects. Blood pressure can be kept within normal range by doing the following: Control your body weight, Exercise regularly, Eat healthy diet, Restrict salt in your diet, Reduce stress, Quit smoke and alcohol and have enough sleep.
