How meeting Chris Brown in 2018 changed my life — Davido

Published by

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, Davido, has revealed how his encounter with American R&B star Chris Brown in 2018 marked a turning point in his music career.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Bagfuel Brigade podcast, the Feel crooner recounted how the connection was made through one of Brown’s closest friends, who happened to be Nigerian.

Davido shared that it all began with a surprise FaceTime call from Brown’s friend, during which his music was playing in the background. Curious, he asked where the caller was, only to find out he was at Chris Brown’s house—and to his amazement, the American singer was dancing to his song.

“He gave Chris Brown the phone, that was the first time we had a conversation,” Davido said.

A few months later, Davido travelled to the United States and finally met Chris Brown in person. The two artists immediately bonded, and a genuine friendship was born.
“Meeting Chris Brown changed my life. I met him in 2018. From the first time we met, we just naturally became friends,” he added.

Their friendship has since led to several musical collaborations and a strong cross-continental connection that Davido says played a key role in elevating his global presence.
