Staying true to one’s craft for 25 years could not have come easy for many musicians, particularly those in the juju music genre but for Famose Ademola Abiodun, popular as Dfamous, it has been a journey filled with gratitude.
Speaking about how it all started, Dfamous said making music comes easy for him as he has always been inspired by songs from music legends that have made the country proud, saying he drew inspiration from legendary musicians such as Evangelist Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, Sir Shina, Peters among other top singers who have dotted the Nigerian music space.
The singer while recalling his music journey and how he has managed to keep himself in the game despite the challenges he has faced said music has always been about passion for him and when things didn’t work as planned, he never stopped trusting God and putting in more work.
“Staying on top of my game for 25 years did not come easy. I have had to work hard and give my fans so much to talk about when it comes to relatable music. I remember the days when I was asked to leave the stage for another big artiste to perform. Those were moments that questioned my talent but I didn’t let that weigh me down and I am glad that I have come out bigger.”
With six albums to his credit, the Osun State born singer who has worked with numerous musicians within and outside his genre featured veteran juju singer, Sir Shina Peters in his last album, Blessing and admitted that the project took his career to new level.
“Working with Sir Shina Peters was a blessing for me as I recall how he was so humble to work with me. I felt really happy being in the studio with him and shooting the video of our collaboration. This was one of the moments that reminded me that no matter how hard it gets, things will always get better,” he said.
Speaking about his plans for the rest of the year, Dfamous said he is currently planning a music tour of the United States as he hopes to take his music to some of his fans across the globe starting from the US, adding that with more than 20 years in the music circle, his big moments could not have come at a better time.
With a new project in the pipeline, Dfamous hinted about his upcoming collaboration with Bonsue Fuji singer, Adewale Ayuba, saying that the album should hit the market anytime soon.
