It was gathered at the conclusion of the final stage of the Tony International Gymnastics (TIG) 10th annual competition and anniversary that an 11-year-old girl named Morning-glory Ewaoluwa who was sponsored by the Honorable Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki, emerged the Gold Medalist of the competition.

The Coach, Mikeal Ocheke, having joyfully witnessed the triumph of Ewaoluwa, narrated thus below the mystery behind the presence of Ewaoluwa and her emergence as the Winner of a Gold medal in the TIG competition final.

“Ewaoluwa is a sport enthusiast with inherent basic gymnastic experience. It was late last year around September when through a video tweet on Twitter that the Distinguished Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki saw directly the inherent ability of Ewaoluwa to become fulfilled and successful in her lovely and enthusiastic chosen career. The video portrayed where she was displaying her high spirited sport skills without any instructor. This was what the Honorable Minister saw and believed the girl if sponsored would reach the height she had always dreamt.”

“In a bid to support children in the country, guide them through their chosen careers and in order to help the girl to achieve greatness having found that Ewaoluwa was naturally flexible even without knowing her from anywhere or through anyone, the Honorable Minister requested with a tweet underneath the video tweet for the details of the parent (Ewaoluwa’s parent)contact and after that, she enrolled and sponsored Ewaoluwa to our gymnastic centre, Body language Gymnastics Club, Lagos state and that was how the journey to becoming great and achieving her (Ewaoluwa) dream began and also that was how I (Ewaoluwa’s Coach) also got to meet her too”

“Less than eight months after the enrollment and sponsorship, Ewaoluwa was shortlisted to participate in the Tony International Gymnastics 10th annual competition and anniversary. After many stages and weeks of training and commitment with lots of supports from the Honorable Minister, she has excelled victoriously. Our visit and all to the final which was held last saturday, 5th of June, 2021 in Abuja where Ewaoluwa met her bestower for the first time after being found on a social app, Twitter was also sponsored by the Honorable Minister”

“Last Saturday was the final in Abuja and for the first time since the sponsorship, the Honorable Minister met Ewaoluwa who made it through and won a Gold Medal at the competition. Ewaoluwa was received with love and cheers from her Sponsor, the Honorable Minister and everyone in the hall for the excellence in her performances.”

The Honorable Minister of State for Transportation, Distinguished Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki who has been known for her philanthropic approach to many developments and who has always been in support of Talent growth was applauded and cheered in appreciation by Ewaoluwa, her family and her coach coupled with well-wishers upon the revelation of Ewaoluwa’s story.

Ewaoluwa’s coach amidst other gymnastic personalities pledged to honour the rare philanthropic and humanitarian gesture of the Honorable Minister by appointing her as an ambassador of the Nigerian Gymnastics.

Ewaoluwa having been blessed by the moment and been the receiver of the benevolent act dedicated her medal to her benefactor, Senator Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki.

It is believed that, while this is not the first time the Honorable Minister is doing this, it will not be the last either as she is a personality known and recognized with benevolence and compassion.
