Ask the Doctor

Hip replacement surgery

I took my 70-year old father who has been complaining of severe pains in his right hip which has made it difficult for him to walk to see the doctor. The doctor suggested a Hip Replacement Surgery for him but the family is worried if he can stand the strain of the operation.

Ideally, any healthy elderly person should be able to have a successful Hip Replacement Surgery (HRS). Once you have been able to sort out the issue of money for the surgery (HRS can be expensive) as well as the post- surgery management such as physiotherapy and home care, you can be sure that the doctor will not operate if your father is not fit for the surgery.
