HID Awolowo Foundation celebrates Wale Adebanwi on Guggenheim Fellowship Award

The HID Awolowo Foundation has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Professor Wale Adebanwi, a distinguished member of the advisory board of the foundation, on his recent prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship award.

The HID Awolowo Foundation, in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Ambassador Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, described the fellowship award as a testament to Adebanwi’s profound contributions and unwavering commitment to scholarship.

The Foundation noted the awardee’s exemplary output in the field of African Studies, particularly his impactful contributions to social, political, and cultural issues in, and on, Africa.

The Foundation said in particular that Adebanwi’s rigorous scholarship aligns with the values and visions of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Yeye Oodua, Chief Mrs HID Awolowo adding that the Guggenheim recognition was a heartwarming continuation of the legacy of commitment to the development of Africa and its values as championed by the two great leaders.

The Guggenheim award, according to the Foundation, was one more validation of Professor Adebanwi’s position as a serious-minded, focused intellectual and a leading light in his field.

“We at the HID Awolowo Foundation are very proud of Adebanwi’s strings of achievements. We greatly value him as a great son of Nigeria and Africa while believing in God that the best is yet to come for him.

“While we congratulate Professor Adebanwi on this great achievement, we pray and look forward to more heartwarming news of greater accomplishments from him which will undoubtedly add to his legacy of excellence,” the Foundation said.
