Health intervention: Bauchi commends USAID/IHP, seeks more collaboration

The Bauchi State Ministry of Health has commended the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Integrated Health Program (USAID IHP) under which various interventions have been implemented to improve health care delivery services in the state.

The commendation was made by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Sumaila Dahuwa Kaila during the 2021 last quarter review meeting held at Riveredge Resort, Bauchi saying that USAID/IHP interventions over the years have really made health management easy for the state government.

Represented by the Director, Public Health of the ministry, Ibrahim Waziri, the commissioner assured that the ministry would continue to partner with health-related donor agencies in the area of improving the health sector which he said is one of the cardinal foci of the administration.

He further said that improving primary health care services is key to the development of the health sector, stressing that USAID/IHP has done tremendously well in that area through its numerous interventions thereby making health care services more accessible to the people particularly those in rural areas.

He then requested for more collaboration with the agency in other areas that have not been touched, disclosing that the ministry is ready to play any role expected of it in the collaboration.

Earlier, the state Director of IHP, Dr Siaka Alhassan said that the meeting was aimed at reviewing what had been done in the last three months when the last review was held in order to see where the programme is lagging behind to be able to make necessary adjustments to achieve the set objectives.
