The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC)), Gusau in Zamfara State, Dr Bello A. Mohammed, has disclosed that despite security challenges, they operate 24 hours a day.
He says he is afraid to disappoint those who gave him trust.
Dr Bello Mohammed, who was speaking in an interview today in Gusau, expressed his appreciation to the president and the federal ministry of health for his reappointment as MD FMC, Gusau, to another four-year term.
“We operate 24 hours a day despite security challenges and attend to everyone, even the victims of insurgency and road accidents, at all times”.
According to him, FMC Gusau has witnessed tremendous transformation, particularly during his administration, in terms of service delivery, provision of manpower, renovations, construction of new structures, and provision of equipment.
He disclosed that presently FMC Gusau has 26 departments and units, including three clinical departments that include Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Family medicine, and paediatrics, that are accredited to run residency training.
“We are currently making frantic efforts to ensure and transform the centre to the status of a teaching hospital.”. he emphasised.
He maintained that as a result of unprecedented achievements that were recorded during his administration, the hospital has grown and developed in all aspects, including healthcare and management levels.
“This speaks volumes about the increased number of patients attending the hospital compared to the past years”.
“I opened up a transparent leadership style that has instilled attitudinal and behavioural changes and discipline in staff”.
He revealed that his administration and management team have left no stone unturned in their efforts to bring about positive development in all aspects of the hospital since he took over as Medical Director.
Presently, the hospital staff strength comprises consultants in various specialities, Medical officers, nurses, laboratory scientists, pharmacists, clinical staff, and non-clinical staff”.
Dr Bello further maintained that with all the achievements under his administration, he will not relent in his efforts to bring more developments, stressing that he is afraid to disappoint those who gave him trust.
He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Health, and the previous administration for supporting him with funds that he brought to FMC Gusau.
