Gunmen kill another PDP chieftain in Delta

Barely eight days after the gruesome murder of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward 4 Chairman in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Paul Onomuakpokpo, suspected gunmen have snuffed life out of Mr Ovie Wisdom Iroro, another PDP member in the state.

Reports revealed that the deceased PDP chieftain from Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state was killed in his home at Abraka, host to Delta State University (DELSU), on Wednesday night.

Sources said the life of Iroro, a father of two kids and husband of Precious Akpore, was brutally cut short at about 10:00 p.m when he was taking his bath.

Iroro, a graduate of Education and Management at DELSU, whose mother marked her birthday on January 13 as contained in his Facebook timeline, was reportedly dragged out of his bathroom into a nearby bush and hacked to death.

The Chairman of Ethiope East LGA, Chief (Mrs) Faith Majemite, on Thursday, reportedly confirmed the killing of Iroro, decrying the gruesome murder of the PDP member.

She was quoted as already working with the Divisional Police Officer in Abraka to unmask the faces of those behind the dastardly act.

While official confirmation from the Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr Hafiz Muhammed Inuwa, is still being awaited, as of Thursday afternoon, feelers had it that the deceased might have been hacked down by suspected internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo boys.

Iroro said to be a member of the PDP Ethiope East LGA Social Media Team, was alleged to have had altercations with the internet fraudsters over some business transactions that allegedly went awry.

The killing of Iroro, said to be in his 30s, is another death too many after the cold murder of Onomuakpokpo on Wednesday, January 8 while returning from the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s Supreme Court victory celebrations at about 7:00 p.m along the Ogoni Road near the palace of Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom.

One of Iroro’s last posts on his Facebook wall on January 14 with a picture of Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel read: “This year 2020 is the year they will say truly Ovie Wisdom Iroro na which God you dey serve we want to know your God.”
