Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, on Monday evening, abducted a family of five in Ajowa Akoko community in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victims were kidnapped while returning to Abuja from Ajowa Akoko, on Monday, after Easter break.
The victim, Ibrahim Olusa, his wife and three children were abducted at gunpoint by the hoodlums between Ajowa Akoko and Ayere in Kogi State.
According to a family source, the kidnappers have contacted the family of the victims demanding N10m as a ransom for the release of all the five people in their custody.
Speaking on the incident, the immediate past chairman of Ajowa Akoko community council Ajayi Bakare, attributed the incessant kidnapping and robberies in the area to the state of the roads.
He noted that the kidnappers usually take the advantage of the bad portion on the Ajowa /Ayere highway to perpetrate criminal acts, saying over 20 people had been kidnapped in the area in the last few months.
Bakare called on the state and Federal Government to rehabilitate the road to enhance the free flow of vehicles and to put an end to the menace and called for the deployment of security personnel on the road
The spokesperson of the state Police command, Mr Tee- Leo lkoro, said the matter has not been reported to the state police headquarters.
Ikoro said he would have to put a call across to the DPO in the council area of the state.
However, an official of the Amotekun in the state informed that the command has been informed of the abduction while some of the personnel of Amotekun have been deployed to the scene of the crime.
