Gunmen abduct poultry farmers, one other in Kogi

Few days after gunmen struck at the prison facility in Kabba, Kogi State, killing soldiers and setting about 240 inmates free, two poultry farmers and another man have been kidnapped by gunmen, in the same community.

Two of the abductees are Olorunpomi Damilola, a staff of the College of Education (Technical), Kabba, and one Pastor Mayowa Otitolaye. Both of them are said to be partnering in the running of a poultry farm while the identity of the third abductee was not yet known as of the time of filing in this report.

It was gathered that the gun-wielding men shot sporadically to scare away onlookers as they seized their victims at the back of a Christ Apostolic Church, in Egbeda-Kabba.

A stakeholder who wished to remain anonymous pointed out the need to engage the services of the indigenous security squad to help in securing the community but lamented the dearth of mobilization.

He averted that other neighboring communities in Okunland have taken to this precautionary measure to forestall such insecurities of lives and property, reiterating the need to do the same in the entire Kabba land, adding that many men of shady characters have infiltrated the surrounding forest.

One Yomi Obalore opined that the entire Ikowaopa, a suburb of Kabba is stylishly under the control of nonindigenes and there is, therefore, the need for everyone to be circumspect.

However, all efforts to confirm the incident from Kogi State police command public relations officer, DSP William Ayah proved abortive as all his lines were not reachable.
