Group commends Osun governor over appointments to LG board

Published by

The Old Students’ Association of Gbongan High School, Gbongan, Osun State has expressed appreciation to the state governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, for the recent appointment of one of their members, Femi Abiona, as a member of the education board of Ayedaade Local Government Area.

The group also thanked the governor for the appointment of one of their former teachers, Dr Victor Olaniyi, as the chairman of the board.

In a press statement issued by the association, the governor was commended for his phenomenal effort towards the transformation of the state’s education sector since he assumed office.

“We want to thank our indefatigable governor for the appointment of one of our members, Mr Femi Abiona and also our former teacher, Dr Victor Olaniyi, as part of the committee to oversee the affairs of the education board of Ayedaade Local Government.

“With their kind of rare pedigree, experience and qualifications, the state has progressively put the round peg in the round hole. We want to assure Your Excellency that these great achievers will prove their mettle as profound ambassadors of the state.”

Few weeks ago, Governor Oyetola appointed chairmen, secretaries and community relations officers for the Local Government Authority in all the council areas in the state.

Abiona, a school proprietor with about 28 years of cognate experience, has been in the forefront of proactive development both within the local government and the state at large.

In a telephone interview with Nigerian Tribune, he appreciated the governor and promised to make a turnaround of the sector.

Dr Olaniyi, an educationist, started as an auxiliary teacher and rose to the position of the Director (Science, Mathematics and Technical) in the state’s ministry of education before retiring from the public service at the statutory retirement age of 60 years in 2019.
