Group commends CDS, Armed forces efforts in tackling security challenges

Published by

Enthusiasts of the Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) have expressed their appreciation for the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in addressing the various security challenges within the country.

UAG also commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin, for being honoured with the “Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient of the Year” by Nigerians both at home and abroad.

In a press statement released on Tuesday and signed by its Convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, UAG emphasized that despite deliberate efforts to generate controversy from certain quarters, the troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain dedicated not only to confronting the nation’s enemies but also significantly reducing their numbers.

The group also commended General Christopher Gwabin’s pledge that the military high command, under his leadership, would not tolerate intimidation or any form of violence in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States, where gubernatorial elections are scheduled to take place.

The statement reads in part: “This is indeed encouraging news, especially in light of the fact that some detractors have persistently attempted to involve the Armed Forces in their self-serving issues. We also call upon the media, in particular, not to fall into the detractors’ trap. Some individuals are benefiting from the security challenges and are seeking ways to involve the military in the country’s internal matters.

“We commend the Chief of Defence Staff for his straightforward approach and unwavering commitment to ensuring peace and stability. UAG believes that the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient of the Year’ recognition for the CDS is a genuine acknowledgment of the fight against insurgency and is truly well-deserved,” the group added.
